News Demo & Video Blog DIY Project

This campaign is aimed at raising money for a news demo and the production of a news video blog called “Fast Five (with Steven Graff).” Equipment costs are covered by my goal, which has been lowered several times. There is no other way for me to raise this kind of money, as I'm currently living with and looking after Vmy elderly mother since my father passed away in 2011.

She will not move, and her house is under a reverse mortgage. The location is very remote from everything.

I earned a MS in broadcast journalism from Boston University after resigning as high school English teacher in Los Angeles, a career which lasted 13 years. It was during the transition between my job and graduate school that my father died. Technically, I've been out of work since then, though I now substitute teach at the only two schools that are within 20 miles of Mom's house. I make about $4000 per year now.

I hope you will agree my aim is prudent and creative, and hope you will consider and donate to this fund. Any amount will help. I've already purchased a video camera with the $1000 I've raised so far, but I need more equipment to do a decent job. It has to look and feel professional, though it will likely be shot in an uninsulated detached garage.
