Post War Hike

I am a combat veteran of both Afghanistan and Iraq and member of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association.   Needing to heal myself and wanting to spread the word about the current veteran suicide crisis (I have lost 4 comrades to suicide), my mother and I set out and thru-hiked the Appalachian Trail in 2014-2015.  While it took us much longer than most to finish, 20 months, we kept on truding and finished the entire trail.

While I am done hiking the AT, my hike through life continues and that is just as much of a challenge as the AT.  I have come to understand that life is a lot like hiking the AT, you have to take it one step and one day at a time and more than anything else, just don't quit and keep on trudging.  So now that I am done hiking I have had to find a place to live and have decided that tiny house/camper trailer living will fit my lifestyle best.  I am currently renovating a 1959 Trailblazer camper trailer for my me and my 2 cats to live in, and for the time being my mom as well.

I am making progress, and while less expensive than remodeling a home it is still a significant financial investment and I still have some significant expenses ahead of me.  Specifically,  I need to purchase a new hot water heater; gut and replace the bathroom and replace the black water waste tank; purchase a weight distribution and sway bar hitch; purchase and install insulation and sheeting on the unside of the trailer and purchase a new ramp to load my motorcycle on the back of my truck.

Life back here in the states as a combat veteran is definitely a challenge, but I am doing my best to conquer it as best I can.  And your support to do so, is greatly appreciated.  I hope that I can be an inspiration, motivation and example to my fellow combat veterans that we can do this.  Sometimes we just need a little help from others to do so, and asking for that help/support/assistance is often the hardest thing for us to do.

Thank you for your support!!
