Portrait Project Exhibition

Donation protected

Once upon a time….
I started a portrait project with a goal to photograph a select group of 40 artists based in Peterborough county.

With a time limit of just 5 months, I set out to photograph at least 2 artists per week until that goal had been met.

At the end of June, I photographed my final artist.

It’s been a fantastic experience. One which introduced me to a diverse and certainly talented group of people.

Along the line, I was asked what my end goal was, and all I could say was that “I’m not really sure”.

Suggestions came up every so often, such as, I should do a book, I should mount an exhibit.

Before finishing the shooting I decided that an exhibit would be the best choice as it would allow me to introduce these amazing people to a wider audience with minimal fuss.

As it stands, my goal is to mount an exhibit whereby each portrait will hang alongside a piece from each artist. (cool idea, right?)

By hanging these portraits alongside each other, I know that fans of one artist will most certainly be exposed to the work of artists they didn’t know about. Which would be beneficial for all those involved.

I know that by showing what goes on behind the scenes, art fans will get a better understanding of what goes into the creation of some of the most wonderful artwork that the region has to offer.

(I invite you to take a moment to look at a selection of the portraits on the dedicated website here . When you visit you will see the portraits of artists such as; John Climenhage, Victoria Wallace, Paul Chester, Bill Reddick, Thomas Aitken and more. These are but a portion of the entire collection which will be revealed exclusively at the exhibit.)

As we support each other, we also support ourselves. This is a very important principle in a competitive environment. As the adage goes, “a rising tide, floats all boats”.

For the first part of this project, I have shouldered all the expense. But now, I need your help to bring the exhibit to the public. To bring it to YOU.

The mission of this campaign is to raise the remaining funds required to have the images printed by a professional printer, mount the exhibit and cover any unforeseen expenses.

Your contribution is an important component in getting these artists the exposure they deserve. You can help to further the career of a number of Peterborough creatives, including myself. It will also give you, the art fan, the opportunity to meet a number of artists all gathering at the same time.

Bringing this portrait project to the public is the final step. I encourage you also to share this campaign with your circle of friends and family so that this goal can be met in as short a time as possible.

There are so many amazing artists in Peterborough, and they deserve all the exposure they can get. I’m putting this project together in the hopes that more people who appreciate and indeed buy art, will see what they are missing.

You can count yourself as having assisted in this important project and help get the word out about what amazing talent we have in Peterborough.

As of December 14, I have confirmed that the show will be broken into two parts. Each part holding 21 portraits.  It will show at Christensen Fine Art, George street Peterborough. The first show will run from July 6 to July 28 and the next group of 21 will show from Aug 3 to Aug 25.
Be sure to follow the Project on Facebook at @peterboroughartists. That way you will be notified of every development ahead of the general public.

Please take a moment to click the Facebook and Twitter sharing buttons, so that others will have the opportunity to assist as well. It’s much appreciated. Your donation means so much. Thank you for looking and helping.

PS: by the way, the list of 40 strangely morphed into a list of 42. But isn't 42 the answer to everything?
