Port Landing Displaced Family Fund

1/12/17 UPDATE: With the funds raised to-date, Just-A-Start has been able to not only help this family get completely settled in to their new apartment, but have also been able to provide some financial assistance to 3 other families with young children! Purchases have included beds, blankets, living and dining room furniture, kitchen essentials, and school supplies -- all vitally important to our everyday lives. The process is still ongoing and we'd love to be able to raise $10,000 so that we can help as many families as possible. Please consider donating if you haven't already! UPDATE: We are very pleased to now be working with Just-A-Start ( http://www.justastart.org/), which will be administering these funds, to make sure these generous donations help this family get settled in their new home and, if there are any additional funds, also help other Saint Patrick families rebuild their lives in their new homes.

The devastating Cambridge fire four blocks from Port Landing  basically wiped out an entire City block . four blocks from Port Landing was affordable housing owned by Just-A-Start, a local non-profit CDC. Just-A-Start and the City are scrambling to find housing for all of the residents that were displaced.

We are very pleased that we at Port Landing will most likely be able to house a family (3 kids and 2 parents) that has been displaced due to the fire. This family has literally lost everything they own.

MHIC, Hope and Capstone are putting together a gift basket for the family, which will include gift cards to Target, grocery store, furniture and clothing stores, etc. so they can have some help getting back on their feet. If you or your company wants to contribute to the gift card fund please donate through this gofundme site. The funds we raise may also be used to purchase essentials (towels, soap, etc.).

We plan to give the family the gift cards and welcome basket this Friday (December 9, 2016) afternoon. We will also be providing a card to the family so they know who helped out and will be sure to list you if you donate.
