Jim Paton, a long time coach at Rogers High School, passed away on January 1, 2012.  The Rogers Baseball Team would like to dedicate the freshman field in honor of Coach Paton's contributions to the development of baseball in the Hillyard community and beyond.  Jim received many honors and recognitions during his lifetime including the 1986 Washington State Baseball Coach of the Year, inducted into the Washington State Coaches Hall of Fame in 1988, received the SGMA (Sporting Goods Manufacturers Association) Heroes Award in 1995, received the Spokane County Volunteer of the Year Award in 1991 for his contributions to youth sports and was listed in the Spokesman-Review in 1997 as one of the greatest stars to wear crimson and gray for WSU. Jim also initiated the All-Star Feeder games for Spokane and hosted the baseball All-State game for years.

The Rogers High School (Spokane, WA) Baseball Team is looking to dedicate the freshman field to former coach Jim Paton, replace some old equipment ( 4 L screens), and purchase some new equipment (bags and jackets for junior varsity and freshmen) in order to continue promoting baseball in the Hillyard community.

The L screens that need to be replaced have become a safety hazard for the current players as they have been patched multiple times and are currently on their last leg.  In order to allow players to continue using the inside batting cages, they must be replaced.

The bags and jackets will be used for the junior varsity and freshman players to transport their equipment to and from games and practice.

Your financial support is greatly appreciated and will be put to good use for the betterment of the Rogers High School Baseball program.

Although we have made enough money for the dedication of the field, we have not yet raised enough funds to replace the equipment. Any future donations will go toward that goal.
