Pono's Surgery

My dog, Pono is badly hurt and needs a complicated surgical procedure on his front left leg called Arthrodesis.
When I rescued Pono, he was about 3 years old and his leg was already deformed but he was able to walk and run just fine. His leg deformation might have being congenital or from an injury that wasn't properly cared for.
On April of this year he injured himself causing the same leg to swell up by the joint where the paw meets the leg. Pono has being limping and unable to put pressure on his leg for two months now. We have gone to his Vet on Kauai, Dr Bryce Ahana, who's wonderful, and have taken multiple X-rays, and have put him on various treatments but the reality is that Pono won't ever be able to walk on that leg unless he gets the surgery. There is no natural cure for it.
Unfortunately it is such a delicate procedure with 0 margin of error that the only surgeon able to do this is in Oahu and of course the cost is outrageous. That's life in Hawaii! Good news is that after surgery they guarantee Pono will be able to be his happy old self again, walking and running, although is gonna be a bit of a peg leg as they have to fuse the bone with metal plates and screws.
Right now we are looking at about $8000 just for the surgery, not counting travel expenses and post surgery care and recovery.
We are schedule to get the surgery done next Thursday, June 13.
Those of you who know me know how much Pono means to me, I adore him like one of my children and would do anything to see him live a happier and healthier life.
