Pocket Change for Climate Change
With my birthday coming up, I was really conflicted about what to do to celebrate. But the more I thought about it, I realized how grateful and content I am for what (and who) I have in my life. So this is the perfect time to give back and spend money towards something really important and meaningful.
Myself and my loved ones will be donating money to the Natural Resources Defense Council, a not-for-profit organization made up of roughly 600 scientists, lawyers, and policy advocates working to protect our planet's precious natural resources. It has been named one of North America’s most powerful environmental groups, and it is a group I have witnessed make real change.
While we may not have been aware, we have all experienced the effects of climate change to some degree. Speaking of degrees, the heatwaves this summer were so bad that temperatures of 40C were felt in Japan, with a record high of 51.3C in Algeria, Africa. It’s happening here as well: 30 deaths were recorded due to extreme heat in Canada.
Supporting efforts to protect our land, air, and water is just one way we can slow the effects of climate change.
Even donations of $1 have an impact, so anything would be appreciated!
Thank you so much!
