Supporting Paul's Kidney Transplant

Paul is a 33 year old man who grew up in West Sayville. He is the oldest of the three children of Paul and Josie Martucci, our wonderful next door neighbors. The Martucci's, including all of their three children, are family to us.
Paul was diagnosed, at a young age, with acute renal failure. As a result of this, he and his family have been through a lot over the years. Paul received his first kidney transplant, by way of a donation from his father, when he was 17 years old. That kidney ultimately failed and he has had to undergo two subsequent kidney transplants. Each kidney lasted for varying lengths of time, but like the previous two, Paul's most recent transplant has now failed.
Throughout his young life, Paul has had to endure long hours of dialysis, an arduous process that cleans his blood, because his kidneys do not function properly. He has now been forced to go back on dialysis, because his most recent kidney transplant has failed.
Despite all the adversity that he has met with throughout the years, Paul has perservered. Paul lives with Marcy, and their beautiful baby boy, London, in North Carolina. A wonderful picture of the three of them together can be viewed on this page.
Paul will be receiving his fourth kidney transplant at New York University Medical Center. Marcy is being tested to see if she is a match for him. But, whether she is a match or not, she will be donating a kidney so that Paul can receive a transplant. If she is a match, Paul will receive her kidney. If she is not a match, her kidney will be donated to a pool that will allow an anonymous person who is a match to receive her kidney. Paul will then be able to receive another kidney from the donor pool that is a match for him.
This process will require Paul, Marcy and London to temporarily reside in New York. Paul and Marcy will be out of work for several months. Paul's transplant and Marcy's donation of her kidney is nothing short of a lifesaving effort for Paul and his family, and it will come with great financial hardship.
