My brother Kyle weighed in last week at 625 lbs, during his consultation with the surgeon at the University of Miami Bariatric Center. The doctors informed Kyle that at this point the diet and exercise he engages in cannot produce significant results quickly enough to have a significant impact. The doctors have advised only a surgical intervention will work at this point. In fact Kyle may need two surgeries in order to address the severity of his condition.
Recently Kyle has expressed a strong desire to change the course of his life! Kyle has committed to working with the Bariatric Center team at the University of Miami. Kyle is moving forward with his pre-op Bariatric diet, engaging in an exercise regimen, participating in consistent psychiatry and psychotherapy, working with a nutritionist and is hopeful about the possibility for weight loss surgeries and a new chance at life.
Unfortunately, as a result of his inability to maintain a job due to his weight and the coinciding depression and anxiety as a direct result, countless denials for public insurance assistance and severely limited finances, he does not have insurance or funds to be able to help with the cost for weight loss surgery.
Our fundraising goal is $20,000, as this is the cost of his first surgery and related hospitalization. This amount includes the out-of-pocket costs for monthly speciality nutrition and psychiatric appointments, weekly psychotherapy appointments, pre-op blood work and procedures.
My brother is on a journey to save and reclaim his life. Thank you so much for your generosity and supporting helping our family.
