Let’s leave a legacy for our forever angel.

On 3/25/19 two families and many others experienced the most horrendous and heartbreaking loss. My 8 year old nephew, Izaiah, was killed by a hit and run driver. (This alleged driver then ran off like a coward and went on about his life for a week before he was charged and subsequently apprehended.)

My dad, nephew and niece were crossing the street at Lake St. to come home after an evening at the park and dinner at Wendy's. It was always their little special outing with Grandpa, one that he has always loved to do, even after a long day of work and it was their first one of the year. What a beautiful day that ended with such tragedy.

My little dude is no longer here. I'll forever hold onto all of the memories we shared with him. He was my best friend. Hug your loved ones a bit harder and give them an extra kiss today.

The last words I said to Izaiah were, "Tie your shoe, dude. Have fun and I love you."

We have now raised enough for his perfect burial and headstone for our little boy, Izaiah. This brings so much happiness to our hearts.

As for continued donations, the Ornelas family has some ideas and they will be wonderful all be in the name of Izaiah Nathaniel. The Ornelas family would like a tree in his name at the Prisco Community Center Park, donate to his baseball and basketball teams and friends at Gates Elementary school where he was a 2nd grade student. Also, we do still need assistance to pay for legal fees/counseling to get justice and peace for Izaiah and his grandpa, who is my father and was injured in this tragic accident, Juan N. Ornelas, Olivia who is mother, and my niece who was there with him as they crossed the street, holding hands. Lastly, let’s get that stretch of Lake St. (Route 31) named after our little dude. We know all of this would make Izaiah so proud.

Tia Vangie memory: As he grew older, he hated taking pictures so one time I took a photo of him and his sister Eliza and put it on Facebook. He made me promise to pay him $1 for each ‘like’ they got for 24 hours. He kept bugging me all day and night to see where they were at. It was $32 by the end of the 24 hours. Ha! Great memory. With that being said, I know he would wanna see how much money we raised in 30 days for him and in the name of him! Oh that smile.

With love,

Tia Vangie and the Ornelas Family

We would love to thank you all for your continued support. We love our family, friends and Aurora community and everyone who donated or prayed for us during this extremely tough time. Please continue to keep us in your prayers.
