Cancer. You never think it could happen to you or your family. And when it does, it blindsides you. We're raising funds for our sister, Angela, who has been re-diagnosed with the most aggressive form of cancer -- triple negative breast cancer (TNBC). Angela is only 48 years old.
TNBC characteristically has a high recurrence rate, which drops down sharply after five years. The risk of recurrence for TNBC is greatest within the first three years and unfortunately, three years after Angela's first diagnosis, the disease has come back with a vengeance. The funds raised from this campaign will help pay her mortgage and living expenses while she fights this deadly disease.
Angela was re-diagnosed with TNBC six weeks ago. Stage 4. In her breast, abdomen, spleen, lungs and lymph nodes. Since her recent diagnosis in July 2018, she has been hospitalized three times. Most recently, she's been fighting pneumonia, a frequent type of infection in cancer patients. In a mere six weeks, she went from a vibrant, self-sustaining woman, with two daughters, a good job, a home that was hers and a life that was full, to now facing a battle that has momentarily robbed her of all of that. Her life as she once knew it has completely changed.
Right now, Angela is in a weakened state, giving all her energy to healing and is unable to earn any income. She is surrounded by her family and an amazing support team that are standing side-by-side fighting with her. But we need your help to eliminate the worry about losing her home, leaving her and her two daughters homeless.
