Please, help me escape Venezuela

Hello, I'm Abraham and I'm 25 years old and I'm from Venezuela. I'm trying to leave for Ecuador with the person I'm dating right now and we desperately need your help. 


I am asking for help, econimical help, to leave the country I was born and grew up in. My country has been facing its worst situation in recent memory for years now, ever since this government rose to power, many of us started suffering the consequences. Millions of us didn't vote nor support this dictatorship when they started campaigning, as you all may have heard, protests started back in April where millions took the streets to riot against all these bad things Maduro's diplomatic decisions have led to. HUNDREDS OF YOUNG VENEZUELANS DIED trying to defend their country, their rights and the worst part about it is that they were killed by the National Guard, policemen and many other institutes under the government orders.


In my case, I recently graduated in a private university and I haven't been able to practice what I studied nor get a job that properly pays an adecuate salary to live this situation. I've been working for years but doing a complete different thing, which I also studied for but the amount of money I earn there isn't enough to get the basic stuff anyone would want to buy (food, personal use things, medicine and more).


I was also diagnosed with a disease that requires treatment and it's impossible for me to get it here since the government owes money to every pharmaceutic provider on earth (and they do not want to accept the International help from other countries either!). I've been trying with private sellers who specialize on selling drugs/medicine which will not be found on any normal pharmacy but they don't have and will not bring them anymore due to them not wanting to work based on loss (the government forces them to sell medicine in a regulated price but won't provide them with the dollars to get them)


I'm from Puerto Cabello, a small town in Carabobo, Venezuela. I lost my mom four years ago and I've had the support of my six siblings ever since. Due to the situation being extremely difficult here, I am forced to leave them here to look for a more stable life and be able to financially help my sisters, brothers, nieces and nephews to leave. I want to be the foundation in Ecuador to receive them there. 

I have been trying to save money and buy dollars to leave but due to the situation it's impossible. (A dollar used to cost 75k bolívares on Friday and it's now up to 85k bolívares today, November 20th). Imagine how hard it is for us to dream about a better and safer life outside of our country, leaving our families behind and trying to start from zero in another place where we have to deal with everything someone who's looking for something better has to go through, especially when we're migrating. 

Venezuela's minimun wage is around 195.000 BS a month, which is currently less than $3 dollars. You can barely buy a kilogram of cheese, rice and pasta with that. Not to mention you cannot find any of those products in a normal store, you have to try get it from a bachaquero (a person that does long lines to get basic products and then sells them overpriced). I have to mention that managers from stores would rather sell those products to bachaqueros instead people who really need it (National Guards also basically abuse their power and confiscate products to sell them overpriced as well).

So, it's becoming harder to leave and the money I had saved before Friday is worth way less today than it was last week. I am trying to get an opportunity to improve as a professional, to grow personally and to help my family here. 

Two years ago, my family gifted me a beautiful dog named Layla, which was the whole reason I was able to deal with a really heavy depression and come out of it and I am not WILLING to get rid of my dog or give her for adoption, she's family, she's my daughter. I want to leave the country to be able to give her a proper life, a life she deserves since the family that was in charge of her before treated her the wrong way and gave her away the minute they decided to leave. I am not going to do the same, my sisters will take care of her while I'm not here and once I'm able to get her with me to Ecuador, I'm going to.


Plane tickets are really expensive here, so a flight to Quito is not a choice, I'm going to have to go there by ride (on  a bus from Bogota to the Ecuadorian border) but that is not the only thing I'm going to have to pay to escape my country (which is sad for me to say since I'm forced to do it). 

Once I get, I'm going to have to apply for a VISA, two in fact, which is over $500, over $400 (or more) for the bus trip expenses, around $60 to pay the permission to cross the border, $120 for passport expenses, finding out the place to live and taxes and fees $300.

I also want to make it clear that no money will be used for personal distraction, entertainment or any activity that will not help me reach my goal, which is leaving my home, my country to pursue a quality life, opportunities to work personal and professionally and more importantly, help those whom I love the most, my family.

I also have been selling all my things to try to get money but I need help. I've had to sell my clothes, bed, AC, I'm currently selling a car and even tried asking loans in several banks. I'm soon to quit my job and use the money I've saved there during these years.

My partner and I both want the same, help our people. Help us, please, we are desperate and scared to be here, we do not know what might happen tomorrow, we can be killed by simply going out to get something to eat since thieves would kill anyone over a cellphone, a pair of shoes, a watch or any other thing that might seem insignificant.

Hola, soy Abraham, tengo 25 años y soy de Venezuela. Estoy intentando desesperadamente irme de mi país junto a la persona con la que estoy saliendo y necesitamos su ayuda. 

Recurro a ustedes porque necesito ayuda económica para salir del país en que nací y crecí, como muchos de ustedes sabrán, Venezuela ha estado atravesando la peor situación en su historia desde hace unos años, específicamente desde que este gobierno tomó el poder y muchos de nosotros estamos sufriendo las consecuencias. Millones de venezolanos no eligieron este régimen dictatorial, protestas se dieron este año desde Abril en la que muchos decidieron tomar las calles para hacer oír sus voces en contra de este gobierno y todas las malas cosas resultado del mismo. CIENTOS DE JÓVENES MURIERON defendiendo su país, poniendo en práctica su derecho a protestar, lo más triste es que fueron asesinados por miembros de los cuerpos de seguridad venezolanos bajo órdenes del gobierno.

En mi caso, recientemente me recibí pero no he tenido l oportunidad de ejercer lo que estudié o de conseguir un empleo que pague lo adecuado para vivir esta situación. He trabajado por años pero haciendo algo completamente ajeno a mi carrera, para lo que también me preparé pero no me proporciona los ingresos suficientes para comprar los productos básicos (comida, cosas de uso personal, medicina y más). 

De igual forma, me diagnosticaron con una enfermedad que requiere tratarse y es imposible en este país ya que el gobierno le debe dinero a toda la industria farmacéutica (y se niega a aceptar la ayuda humanitaria de otros países). Por lo que he estado intentando adquirir el mismo en proveedoras privadas pero tampoco han importado más los medicamentos debido a que el gobierno los forza a venderlos a precios regulados y no les facilita los dólares para adquirir los mismos, por lo que no quieren operar basándose en pérdidas.

Vivo en Puerto Cabello, un pequeño municipio en Carabobo, Venezuela. Hace cuatro años perdí a mi madre pero he contado con el apoyo de seis increíbles seres humanos que son mis hermanos. Debido a la difícil situación, me veo forzado a buscar una vida más estable para así poder ayudar económicamente a mis hermanos, sobrinos a irse luego. Quiero ser la base para recibirlos en Ecuador. 

He estado intentando reunir dinero y comprar dólares para irme pero debido a la inflación, es difícil hacerlo aquí (Un dólar solía costar 75 mil bolívares la semana pasada, hoy es lunes y ya va por 85 mil). Imaginen cuán difícil es para nosotros soñar con una vida mejor y más segura fuera del país, nos vemos forzados a dejar nuestras familias y comenzar desde cero en otro sitio donde tenemos que lidiar con todo lo que conlleva emigra. 

El salario mínimo en Venezuela es de 195 mil bolívares, menos de $3 dólares al mes, lo que no alcanza ni para comprar un kilo de arroz, pasta o queso. Sin mencionar que ese tipo de productos no se consigue en los supermercados (se debe recurrir a un bachaquero, una persona que hace largas colas para comprar el producto y luego venderlo a sobreprecio). Cabe destacar que los gerentes de las tiendas también prefieren vender los productos básicos a los bachaqueros en vez de a las personas que realmente lo necesitan (la Guardia Nacional también se presta para estos actos ilícitos  y abusan de su poder confiscando los productos para venderos a sobreprecio). 

Por lo que, se está haciendo más difícil obtener el dinero pra irnos, encima de que lo que teníamos ahorrado cuesta menos hoy de lo que valía la semana pasada. Estoy intentando buscar oportunidades para crecer profesionalmente, crecer personalmente y profesionalmente y ayudar a mis familiares aquí. 

Hace dos años, mi familia me regaló una hermosa perra llamada Layla, quien es la razón por la que tuve el valor de vencer la depresión en la que me encontraba y a diferencia de muchos venezolanos, no estoy dispuesto a dar en adopción o deshacerme de mi niña, mi cachorra que es como mi hija. Quiero salir del país para poder darle una vida adecuada, la vida que se merece debido a que ella antes vivió en un hogar con una familia que no le importó abandonarla a la primera de cambio. Mi hermana se hará cargo de ella mientras yo me asento y pueda venir por ella. 

Los pasajes aéreos están muy caros, por lo que un vuelo a Quito no es una opción, tendría que irme por tierra (en un bus desde Bogotá a la frontera Ecuatoriana) pero eso no sería lo único que tendría que pagar para escapr de mi país (lo que me entristece decir porque me veo forzado a hacerlo). 

Una vez que obtenga el dinero, será usado para aplicar por una VISA, dos de hecho, que serían $500 dólares, más de $400 dólares para los gastos del viaje, $60 dólares para el permiso para pasar la frontera, $120 para los gastos de pasaporte y para luego echar raíces en Ecuador, impuestos y más alrededor de $300. 

Un estimado de: $2.000 dólares.

Quiero aclarar también que el dinero que se done no será usado para otra cosa que mi viaje, no planeo utilizarlo para disfrute personal o cualquier otra actividad distinta a lograr mi meta, la cual es salir de aquí para buscar una mejor calidad de vida, oportunidades para crecer personal y profesionalmente y más importante, ayudar a mi familia. 

También he vendido mis cosas para tratar de ahorrar más dinero pero sigo necesitando ayuda. He tenido que vender mi ropa, mi cama, aire acondicionado y estoy vendiendo un carro. He intentado pedir préstamos en bancos y pronto voy a renunciar a mi empleo para hacer uso del dinero de la liquidación. 

Mi pareja y yo vamos en busca de lo mismo, ayudar a los nuestros. Ayuda, por favor, estamos desesperados y asustados de estar aquí, no sabemos qué pueda pasar mañana, por el simple hecho de salir aquí cualquier ladrón podría matarnos para robar nuestros celulares, un par de zapatos, un reloj o cualquier otra cosa que parezca insignificante.
