Please Help Kathy Fight Breast Cancer

I am writing you today with a heartfelt request for my dear friend Kathy. Some of you may know her as Dr. Chappell, Veterinarian Extraordinaire!!
For those of you who know Kathy, you know she is one of the kindest most positive people you will meet. Kathy doesn’t let much bother her; she is caring and calm, and views life as the ‘glass is half full.’ She is always there to help anyone – with two legs or four.
Well … now Kathy needs us!
In March of this year, Kathy was diagnosed with Triple Negative Invasive Ductal Adenocarcinoma… Breast Cancer. I remember the day she called me to let me know. Of course, she started out the conversation asking about me, how was I doing. It wasn’t until the end of the conversation that she finally shared she had been diagnosed with breast cancer. BREAST CANCER!!!! NOT KATHY!!!! Even amid her trauma, she asked me how I was, and how my kids were.
In the weeks following her diagnosis, Kathy remained her positive self. Downplaying her pain from her five rounds of chemotherapy. She even went forward with her son’s sleepover birthday party just days after her treatment. She put on a brave face, as she always does, and met his friends like nothing was wrong.
Recently, Kathy has found out that her tumor is not responding to chemotherapy and that the tumor has actually grown. Kathy has been advised that she will need surgery as soon as possible and her best treatment option may be going to the United States most likely through clinical trials.
Kathy has two children, Brandon who is 11 and Emily who is 9 and is married to her best friend and tireless supporter James who has been by her side from the beginning. She is also a daughter, a sister, an auntie, and a friend to so many!
James and Kathy have been busily selling their belongings since the diagnosis. James usually works out of town but is now home caring for Kathy and the kids. Kathy has not been able to work since her diagnosis. Now, potentially going the United States for treatment will cost the family upwards of a $100,000!! If we can raise this money…then Kathy can go!
No one should have to fight cancer alone!
What I am asking for you to do today is to please join Kathy’s fight against breast cancer!! The money raised will be used for living expenses and medical treatments, both local and international. Let us lift Kathy, James, Brandon and Emily in their time of need. Let’s show them they are not alone!
