 Introduction

Our 14 year old son Evan Bugatto is a fantastic boy with so much potential, who has been given a terrible diagnosis this past week that threatens his life. We really need your help to get the best care and options wherever they may be found.  We are setting up this fundraiser to help our beloved son Evan, who was just diagnosed with an aggressive malignant brain tumour by the name of Glioma grade 4.

About Evan

This boy, our middle son of three boys, is a ray of sunshine, so so so positive and very kind. We've never met someone as sincere as Evan. He never holds judgment, hates conflicts and is always the peacemaker between friends. He is a leader in all sense of the word, and has friends of all ages and all walks of life. Highly creative and imaginative, he spends his time making movies, is an avid vlogger (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xcKDyeSwPJE&t=17s ), creates EDM songs-electronic dance music, writes stories and aspires to become a filmatographer and/or sound designer. He is very active, he breakdances, performs acrobatics on the trampoline, is an avid skier, swimmer, slackliner and parkourist. His presence when he enters a room changes the atmosphere from blah to exciting. His energy and sense of humour brighten people’s day. He attracts everyone he meets, his charm and smile are contagious. Our son Evan is a fantastic boy with so much potential, who has been given a terrible diagnosis that threatens his life. We really need your help to get the best care and options wherever they may be found.

Overview of the illness

His story initially began with what we thought was a trampoline concussion. Evan attempted a double flip and landed on his neck. The symptoms he was experiencing were coinciding with the symptoms of a concussion; headaches, fatigue, nausea and blurry vision. We consulted with an ophthalmologist who quickly pushed us through emergency care. An MRI confirmed there was an encapsulated tumour located in the thalamus region of the brain, just above the brain stem. The symptoms were caused by hydrocephalus, cerebral fluid accumulating around the tumour putting pressure on the brain. He was administered into the hospital that very day to undergo the insertion of a shunt to drain this fluid since the tumour was blocking the exit of where the fluid normally drains. In the end the shunt was not necessary since the fluid drained in the location where the neurosurgeon drilled. The biopsy was sent to a lab and to our utter shock confirmed that the tumour was malignant and aggressive. We are looking beyond the limited options we’ve been presented with to be able to get treatment wherever there is hope for a better outcome for Evan’s future.
