Please help Curtis

This is Curtis.... oh sweet Curtis!! he is approximately 15 weeks old and now weighs almost 22pounds. When my mom found him on the side of the road (in the middle of nowhere) two weeks ago was only about 14 pounds...he was lifeless, covered in flies and hours from death. Being that he was found in another state I could not take him to the vet clinic that I work at here in Niceville, So my mom took him to her local vet. Curtis was diagnosed with intestinal parasites, malnutrition/ dehydration, and a fractured femur where he stayed the night for observation. When I got there the next day to get him, her vet explained what he thought had happen, More than likely he had been thrown from a moving vehicle. We took him home gave him a bath, cleaned his wounds (from fly bites and skin lesions) and showed him a lot of love. After having him for the weekend I found out he is deaf but that doesn't stop him with playing and having fun. I finally got him back to my work where we could do x-rays and see everything that was going on, his sternum is broken, and the break in his leg also involves his growth plate, therefor his femur will not be growing as he grows. With all of that being said talking with my vet as well as an orthopedic surgeon Curtis will be losing his leg when he gets healthier and stronger. I have done a lot of research and have decided that because he is so young and going to be a big dog that a prosthetic is what will be best for him. After discussion, the decision was made that we will amputate at the break so he will be able to be fitted for a custom prosthetic. Your donations will 100% go to the cost of the X-rays, surgery, health care and braces/prosthetics costs. If I meet and exceed the goal I have set to care for Curtis, the remaining balance will be donated to our "sunshine fund" that we have at Midbay to help others who cannot afford procedures for their pets.
