Plea of a mother:
My 16yr old daughter HK was born in the suburbs of Damascus. When she was 1, she was diagnosed with a blood disorder causing her red cells to die faster than normal. By age two she got started on regular blood transfusions. She needs this once a month to stay alive. In 2013 due to the war we came to Egypt. Last year we came to KC as refugees. Drs at Children’s Mercy have told us that a bone marrow transplant can cure her. She needs to be treated with chemotherapy during this process. This will most likely kill her ovarian cells(as per her Dr). This means in order to ever have kids later in her life, she needs to have egg retrieval done and have her eggs freezed at a egg bank. This is a costly procedure, not covered by insurance and we have no money. We have recieved some discount but still need over $10,000 dollar.

this family is settled to KC through the US refugee resettlement program. I'm a refugee activist and all money raised will be paid to the physician. as they cannot take direct GO Fund Me transfers, I'll have to first withdraw the money then write a check to them.
