Play for All Community Playground

Two years ago, Park Place Christian Church conducted a study to determine who our neighbors were and what were their needs. Three projects were scheduled to benefit our community. A Prayer Garden and a Community Vegetable Garden are completed. The Community Playground remains.
The lot in the back of the church is large enough for a substantial playground and the church agreed to donate the land. Research began on what type playground we wanted.
After collecting information on area children and their needs, it was determined that there are over 1,700 children between 5 and 18 years old that have no place to play. These are differently abled children that are accustomed to watching their friends play as they sit in wheelchairs or stay with their parents.
We partnered with Whirlix Designs out of Richardson, Texas. They are a subsidiary of Landscape Structures. They helped us design a playground that will allow all children to play together mindful of special needs. Roller slides and ground cover are anti-static so that children with cochlear implants or pacemakers can play. Cozy dome is in place so that a child on the Autism spectrum has a calming place to rest. All swings and zip lines have special seats to secure children in place.
As a happy coincidence, the Upside called Whirlix to set a meeting to discuss a playground for children with Downs Syndrome. Whirlix connected this group to the church committee and Play for All was formed!
Your donations will allow us to complete this playground for all of the children in the Wichita Falls area.
We look to to begin building in spring of 2019.
