We are producing a documentary film about plastic pollution across the Balearic Islands (incl. Mallorca, Ibiza, Formentera, Cabrera and Menorca).
1,5 million plastic bottles are consumed each day in the Balearic Islands.
It is our intention that this documentary film will create a shift in consciousness towards preserving these beautiful islands, which attract some 15 million visitors a year.
About the film:
Plastic Balearics is a documentary film that sets out to tell the story of plastics on the Balearic Islands, and the fundamental need to respond to the threat of plastic contamination in every aspect of our lives.
It was inspired by Cleanwave.org, an initiative that sets out to provide alternatives to plastic water bottles in the Balearic Islands.
The film will present a selection of the main players within the field of recycling, conservation, and the plastic bottle industry - and finally showcase some of the solutions and tangible actions that the islands’ communities have taken upon themselves as stewards of the earth and oceans.
Who are we:
Once again the award winning Altamar team are working together to produce this important film.
The film is being Directed/Produced by Line Hadsbjerg, alongside Mallorcan film director and Director of Photography Pep Bonet.
Matteo Vielle supports the production as 2nd camera assistant, and multimedia editor Jose Bautista is responsible for music and editing.
Philipp Baier is executive producer on the film.
Timing:
We are currently in the final production stage and early stage of editing/post-production
Expected film premiere – November 2017.
Personal Motivation:
As the director, it is my hope, and my sincerest intention, that this documentary film, is a reflection of the people of the Balearics and expresses the voices of those who strive to tread, just a little more softly, on this planet we call home.
