Planting Roots in Florida
Donation protected
About a year ago, I had an idea to head out on the road and prove that you can, in fact, eat healthy on the road using locally-sustainable resources, and along the way meet interesting people and find restaurants that are “diamonds in the rough”. I was completely set on buying my own RV and heading out into the wild blue yonder, as far as my camper would take me. I bought and started writing at A Spork in the Road .
Then, my life began to change. I started having various career opportunities pop up, and I began to take myself a little more seriously. Business is still booming, but I can't afford to live in my own space in my home state. I started looking for somewhere I want to be, somewhere I can afford to live on my own.
I have freinds in Florida, and they were instrumental in hooking me up with an affordable space. I am heading out on a week-long adventure with what I can carry in my vehicle. It’s not much, but it’ll be enough to get me started in my new place.
Everything that doesn’t fit or isn’t necessary will be donated or given away. I’m bringing the items with any monetary or sentimental value with me (read: my necessary office items and memories of family members and freinds that can never be replaced).
Everything there is already paid for. I’ve rented the apartment and the truck to get me there. My bills are paid through the end of August, and I have steady work as a freelance writer and editor.
Except
I am not going to have enough income while I’m on the road to afford a place to sleep or food to eat. It all rolls in the same day I get to my new space. I'd stay here until that date, but I have no place to live in the meantime.
I need a little help, and I think you’re the perfect person to pitch in.
As Paulo Coelho so eloquently wrote in The Alchemist, “And, when you want something, all the universe conspires in helping you to achieve it.”
So, how about it? Will you please jump in on the conspiracy?
Goals
To land safely in Florida, in my already-rented apartment.
What the Money Goes To
Travel costs like fuel and accommodations. Everything else is paid for.
