Planet Prentonia is the home of quality and original Tranmere Rovers coverage online. It was founded in 2015 by Ryan Ferguson, a lifelong fan who grew tired of the cliched view many people have of his football club.
Rovers are often portrayed as the younger brother of Everton and Liverpool, giants that lurk across the River Mersey. However, Tranmere was formed in 1884, eight years before Liverpool, and the club has a beguiling history of its own, from developing Dixie Dean in the 1920s to reaching the League Cup final in 2000.
Yet for many years, that heritage was rarely given full credence by the mainstream press, which is where Planet Prentonia comes in.
With a thriving website and social media presence, Planet Prentonia is an attempt to penetrate the lazy stereotypes and explore the true soul of Tranmere Rovers.
It goes beyond simplistic match reports and diluted platitudes to tell the real story of Wirral’s preeminent sports club, with original feature articles, passionate analysis and rare historical content.
By mixing knowledge about the club with journalistic expertise, Planet Prentonia provides a service that is difficult to find elesewere. However, this remains largely a hobby, and we hope that your help can take the site to another level.
We have achieved a lot in this endeavor, but the project is far from completion. There is still so much we want to deliver. Yet, in order to do so, additional funding will be required. Rather than blight the website with annoying adverts, Planet Prentonia would like to ask for donations from its loyal fanbase.
Any funds raised will be used to enrich our output. Essential equipment upgrades will allow us to generate content of greater quality, while financial flexibility will enable us to dedicate more time to the cause. That means more of the original articles, graphics and analysis you love.
We're also keen to explore areas for further expansion. A YouTube channel intrigues us, but right now our equipment simply isn't good enough to do it justice. Similarly, launching some kind of shop with Planet Prentonia merchandise has always a distant ambition, so perhaps fresh capital would afford us that opportunity, too.
Your support would also help cover the associated costs of running our operation, including web hosting, domain licenses, Internet payments and the like.
In the end, we want to take Planet Prentonia to the next level. Our passion for Tranmere Rovers, and for telling its real story, will never waver. Hopefully with your support, it can be encouraged even more, as we seek to grow organically.
