Placing the #Alamo127
The Alamo Needs YOU!
The San Antonio Railroad Heritage Museum (SARHM), a Texas Not-For-Profit, 501(c)(3), educational organization, has recently had the honor of receiving the donation of the former Southern Pacific business car, #127, The Alamo.
We are excited to make Elmendorf, TX the Alamo's new home, and we are raising $45,000 to move the #Alamo127 to its new home at the museum grounds in Elmendorf, TX, and to support the restoration work on the car one it is in place on the museum grounds.
The Southern Pacific business car, #127, the "Alamo" was constructed by the Pullman Company in June of 1926 for the Galveston, Harrisburg and San Antonio Railway as car #999, "Alamo". The car was sold/transferred to the Texas and New Orleans Railroad as car #999 somewhere between June 1931 and June 1932 where it continued to serve its duties as a business car. March 29th, 1937, air conditioning was added by the T&NO shop personnel at the Hardy Street Shops in Houston, TX. On July 21st, 1960, the car was renumbered to the T&NO 127, "Alamo". On November 24th, 1975, it was recommended that the "Alamo" be retired, but retirement did not come until March 1982. It was sold into private ownership and moved to the owner's property.
Please join us in this exciting project by making a donation of $25, $50, $100, $500, $1000 or more to achieve our goal. Donations can also be made via GoFund Me, our website sarhm.org, by check or money order to our mailing address:
