PJ History Scholarship

At Hogan Prep, PJ was everybody's papa.  He ran the track team, brought in telescopes to start an astronomy club, and every time I saw him in the hall, he said, "Hello, darling!"  

No matter how stressed out I was, I felt better.

When we had a minute, I loved hearing about his adventures in South America, card games with Kansas City's who's who, and the lives of his ancestors.

He bought everybody drinks at teacher happy hour.  He came to an art opening I hosted and bought a picture from a six-year-old.  He helped me take Hogan kids to Alvin Ailey.  He was good people.

For my 40th birthday, I am creating a scholarship in PJ's name, to thank him for his friendship and the great love he showed to Hogan students.

In the spring, I'll work with Hogan alums and administration to choose a student with an interest in history to receive the scholarship.
