West Bridgewater 9/11 Memorial Fund
The 9/11 Memorial committee has taken its first step in creating a fitting memorial for the piece of steel salvaged from The World Trade Center site. Together the committee, made up of police and fire officials and a town resident, created the design for the granite monument and it was paid for by the Police and Fire unions, and a donation from Bridgewater Savings Bank. This is just the first step in a complete overhaul of the site that the committee has planned. We have teamed up with a local landscape design architect to create a monument that will rival those of big cities. However it will come at a cost. We need your help. All donations will go directly to the memorial, the committee is all volunteer. Our plans include moving both the steel and the monument to another location at the site, a patio, granite seating and curbing throughout, 3 large flag poles, new landscaping, night scaping and more. Please feel free to share this page and help us get the word out. No donation is too small, and certainly not too big. Update: as we last reported the Firefighters Union has matched your donations. We currently have a bank account for this project with $2700 in it. As you can see the go fund me was not as successful as we had hoped. We were forced to find other means of financing. At the current time we are awaiting a special town meeting to hold a vote to declare the piece of land which the memorial is on a town park to allow funding that was approved at a previous town meeting useable. Once this takes place along with the donations we have recieved construction will begin on a top notch memorial. We thank you for your donations.
Just a quick, long over due update. Thank you to those who have donated already. As of now the West Bridgewater Firefighters Local 2610 union has matched your donations. The committee has been working hard to secure funding and soon it will go before town meeting for approval. We appreciate all of the generous donations to date. We have a beautiful design we will be sharing soon enough and hope to have work completed for this September 11th. Please continue to share and if you live in town make sure you attend town meeting.
