Pirate POWER Band in Nashville 2018

Donation protected
We are the Pirate POWER Band from Pleasant Hope, Missouri.   Pleasant Hope is a small rural community 15 miles north of Springfield, Missouri with a population of only 613.  We are considered a small class 2A school (just barely). We have a total enrollment of 426 students enrolled in school grades 5-12, and 85 participate in the band program at some level.

8 years ago there were a total of 7 students in high school band and the band program was all but forgotten by the community.  Since 2013 the Pirate POWER Band has seen a quadrupling of active students at every experience level from beginner thru advanced.

Beginning in 2014 the Pirate Power Band began actively participating in parade/indoor guard/indoor percussion competitions throughout Missouri.  Slowly but surely a last place band began to climb the ladder. Year by year our placement moved up from last place, to 7th place, to 6th, 5th, 4th all the way up to where we currently sit (depending on the festival) at 1st-3rd place.

The Pirate POWER Band currently participates in 30-35 public performances every year ranging from home football games, parade competitions, Christmas parades, regional community parades, home basketball games for both JV and varsity boys and girls, community concerts, state assessments, graduations and regional music festivals.  In the spring of 2017 the band was honored to perform at a NBA game in Oklahoma City as the featured performance group.

Numerous students from the band have represented the community in district honor bands and district/state level solo and small ensemble festivals.  We even have a group of young musicians who formed their own country and blues ensemble that regularly performs at local and regional talent competitions and festivals.  Students in the band are very active in other school-wide activities and sports ranging from President of FFA, to half the band being involved in Student Council, FFA, Math Club, Science Club, FBLA, FCCLA, Beta Club, plus every sport we offer from football to our state qualifying girls softball.

The Pirate POWER Band is an example of hard work paying off.  After hundreds and hundreds of practice hours, miles of marching, and thousands and thousands of notes the band is ready to take their show on the road to Nashville for their 65th annual Christmas Parade in 2018, but we need your help.

Would you be willing to help the band get to Nashville?  We really appreciate you reading this.
