"Donate a dollar to help build the track of tomorrow."

What is Speedway? (From Speedway Great Britain)

The Speedway Motorcycle Club of WA is looking for your help to construct their new 330 metre senior circuit, complete with an “Air Cushion” safety fence, next to the existing Pinjar Park Junior Speedway site by December 2016. The current 142 metre junior oval was built by volunteers as a junior track when the Bibra Lake Speedway closed in 2003 to help nurture the growth of junior speedway in Western Australia. With no senior sized track in the entire state the SMCWA has been using the junior track for senior racing until a full sized venue could be built.

For senior riders in Western Australia the closest full sized venue is in South Australia (2700km away).

Many years of work have been put into seeing this new senior track planned and developed and now construction has finally begun, however funds are running low. For a senior track it is recognized worldwide that an airfence is the safest way of preventing injury. Not only will the money from this fundraiser be used to further construction, a priority of the club will be to install an airfence from the very start in the interest of safety for riders.

The current motto of the campaign is "Donate a Dollar" in which even a single dollar will mean a lot to the club and go a long way in making the aspirations of our riders come true.

This hard working club has run the famous and exciting Rob Woffinden Classic event for the past five years, honouring the father of 2013 and current World Speedway Champion Tai Woffinden, who was one of the key players in the construction of the Pinjar Park circuit. Tai Woffinden learned how to ride at Pinjar Park and actually won the 2012 Rob Woffinden Classic.

The Speedway Motorcycle Club of WA is proud of the tradition that they have started with the RWC that attracts arguably the best international field of riders seen in Australia each summer. But they want to move forward with the planned new track, built to international standards, that will be much better suited for both 500cc solo racing, s well as 1000cc sidecar racing.

The new track will be the home of speedway bike racing in Western Australia for years to come. Not only will it be used for rounds of the Australian Championship and selected internation events but the Speedway Motorcycle Club of WA hope to recapture some of the nostalgia from the Claremont speedway many years ago. After two years of negotiation and years of planning, the new circuit has been approved and the team of volunteers have been spending weekends in clearing and fencing the site, in preparation for construction to begin.
