Pillow Pets for Harborview!

Donation protected
On July 2, 2011 two of our daughters were burned in a horrible accident at our Washington home. Brooklyn, then 2, had second degree burns to her head and face. She was ambulanced to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle, WA  and stayed one night before recovering completely at home. Addison, then 4, had a very different story. Addie suffered third degree (full thickness) burns to her head, hands, face, arms and thighs. She was life flighted to Harborview ICU and was inpatient for 48 days. She had to endure skin grafts to her face, hands and arms, and has undergone many surgeries and treatments over the last several years.

As you can imagine this time in our lives was our hardest. At one point Addie’s lungs became so sick we weren’t sure she would survive. Recovery was hard, but Addison has thrived despite her injuries, surgeries and the trauma the accident caused.

Every year on July 2nd we return to Harborview ICU and we donate Pillow Pets for a years worth of pediatric patients. We also set up a lunch for faculty and another lunch for families of the patients in the ICU. Harborview is an absolutely amazing hospital, but it is a trauma center. The faculty care for the worst of the worst and they do it with grace and encouragement. They are some of our absolute favorite people! With Harborview being a trauma center, they are often overlooked when it comes to donations, volunteers and so on. When you walk through the halls it’s not the same experience you would have in a children’s hospital. There are no princesses, brightly painted murals or superheroes gracing the halls. Everyone in their ICU is in a sudden fight for their life.

Our family wants to give these kids, experiencing maybe the worst time in their lives a little joy. A little color in their room, something soft and happy to greet them.

No donation is is too small. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for allowing us to bless others on the anniversary of the worst day of our lives.   These next couple of months are something we look forward to every year.

*If you would like to mail us Pillow Pets please reach out for our mailing address. It’s often fun to choose a special Pillow Pet to share. Every full size Pillow Pet received $25 will be added as a donation to the fund. Thank you.

Sincerely,
