The FellaShip Sanctuary Pig Rescue

Why do we need donations? A little over one year after rescuing Fella (www.theamazingfella.com)from a Sausage Farm in Essex, I stumbled upon a meat farm just 4 minutes walk from our home! The farmer is giving up pig farming and using the land for something else but the 10 piglets and 2 pigs left are being sent off to slaughter and the other 2 mama pigs sent off to be bred and their babies (around 20 each per year) will be used for meat.  I bit the bullet and went and spoke to the Pig farmer and propositioned him. I asked that if I found homes for the piglets, would he not send them to slaughter. He agreed and we shook hands on a fee (£800) to save them!

Your donation is helping to save the lives of these innocent pigs by helping to pay the fee to the farmer, food now they are in my care (£40 per week+), a secure home to be built on my land (fencing and shelter £2000+) care, travel costs (for those going to Sanctuaries), bedding, maintenance (hoof trimming +oils for their skin), A radio (they love to have the radio on all day), a wheelbarrow to help me bring the food from the car to the land (heavy 20kg sacks pig nuts + carrots), food troughs (we need heavy farm feeders as pigs have a habit of knocking them over otherwise), waterproof mattresses for their shelter to keep them comfortable and off the cold hard floor and a heat lamp for the winter in their shelter.

I get so much pleasure from caring for animals and will care for them with my time and heart. I'd love to meet you one day and you are most welcome to come and meet these babies or volunteer some time or anything  This is not 'mine' but 'our's' and together we can make a difference to lives and who knows- maybe even the world!
