Pick Up The Pieces
In September of 2008 Jordan received the most staggering news of her life. She had stage two Burkitt’s lymphoma. The next couple of months were really hard for our family, but finally in April she was granted remission. Everything was just starting to go back to normal when Sheryl was diagnosed with stage-four thyroid cancer. We were knocked off our feet, once again.
It was a very long and agonizing journey for our family, but we pulled through together. In 2010 we found creating glass art. It quickly became a therapeutic escape from the ugliness that was our reality.
In 2012, we opened our first studio. It was a 200 sq ft space in the basement of Gorse Mill in Needham Heights; that we quickly out grew. In 2014 we picked up and moved our entire studio into a 600 sq ft space in Needham Center with lots of windows and beaming sunlight to bring life to the beautiful array of glass works hanging throughout the space.
But, our dreams are still bigger.
We opened our studio with the intention of spreading the therapeutic benefits that we received by creating art, with others.
Teaching workshops and hosting parties allows us to give, not just those burdened by disease, but everyone an opportunity to step away from the stress of life. Though, we started specifically with cancer patients in mind, we strive to deliver an escape to all, by focusing ones mind on creating beauty and self-expression rather than whatever it is that keeps him or her up at night; even if only for a couple of hours.
We would like to get to a place of financial stability that allows us to offer free classes to cancer patients and others inflicted by serious diseases at institutes such as the Jimmy Fund, and Dana Farber, where we received treatment.
We are asking for $5,000 to cover the cost of a larger kiln and installation. The kiln will give more people the opportunity to create fused glass with us.
$2,000 for fusing glass, tools and supplies to get all of us moving on our journey.
And $1,000 for marketing and advertising to reach as many people as possible.
We have a big goal to help a lot of people, and are asking for your help getting there.
Become a part of our mission.
