The Smart Garden is a community garden and outdoor artist space located in the Belmont area of West Philadelphia. We are continuing a long legacy of sharing fresh, organic produce with our neighbors, friends, and families.
The Smart Garden Committee is developing an outdoor creative space where community members, artists and gardeners can breathe deep, eat well, reconnect to the earth, and be expressive through various artistic mediums.
We need money to make improvements. In order for us to produce more veggies and continue to provide a beautiful, safe environment for our users, we have to fundraise with your help.
Our tool storage shed was built 20+ years ago and it's falling down. We have to build a new, much safer one in its place and put a few tools (shovels, rakes, hoes, etc.) inside when it's built. The new shed will have a water catchment system to harvest and store rain water for the plants on those hot summer days. The funds gathered will also help us build a platform for performances and workshop events as well as buy seeds, row covers and art supplies.
With the lack of accessible and readily available resources from city and public entities, community support is imperative. Your donations will ensure that we can host more gardeners and continue to have more events that uplift the men, women, and children in our community. This is why your support is imperative.
Last season we hosted arts events for family and friends and had students from Belmont come out to learn about and truly experience the joy of fresh, local food. Neighbors came by every single day with their kids to enjoy what we have to offer. We've already done so much with so little, imagine the possibilities your support can cultivate.
