Philip White was the victim of a hit-and-run accident while riding his bicycle in Oceanside, CA on Sunday, September 21, 2014. He was 28 years old. The world lost a creative, intelligent, and gentle soul who will be deeply missed by friends and family. Philip is survived by his parents, David and Nancy White, sister and brother-in-law, Mandy and Aaron Steiner, grandfather, Milton White, and countless others who loved and cared for him.
Philip was known for his compassion, his wry and quirky sense of humor, his generosity, and his desire to care for others. He gave what he could to others when the opportunity arose, even the clothes off his back. Philip was excited to be finishing a program to be a phlebotomist and medical assistant in the coming weeks. He loved to cook and had a soft spot for caring for animals. Although Philip’s life was not without struggle, he was hopeful, independent, and courageous in his efforts to improve his circumstances and those of the people he loved.
Philip’s sudden and untimely death has left his family with unexpected expenses for his final arrangements and other needs. There is an active police investigation regarding the circumstances of his death. Friends, family, colleagues, and other supporters are invited to help Philip’s family meet financial demands as they face this tragedy. No gift is too small. All donations will go to the White family to help with costs associated with Philip’s funeral and related expenses. Any excess funds will be donated to worthy organizations such as Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), and the San Diego County Bicycle Coalition.
