Pets with Wings Freedom Flights

$13,735 of $30,000 goal

Raised by 165 people in 11 months
Pets with Wings is committed to transporting homeless pets from St. Thomas to stateside no kill rescues.

This campaign would help transport as many as 100-120 pet to these rescues.  Last year PWW transported almost 400 homeless pets stateside. Our goal for this year is 500 or as many as we can. We can reach that goal with your continued support and donations.

Please consider donating and if you can't donate, please volunteer to help ready our freedom flights, or transport, foster or adopt.

Some of the stateside rescues PWW has partnerships with are:

Save A Dog a rescue in Sudbury, Massachusetts;
Pet Search operated in Pennsylvania;
Angels Helping Animals Worldwide in Martha's Vineyard;
Spotty Dog Rescue in Connecticut;
North Shore Animal League located in Long Island New York;
Waterville Humane Society in Maine;
Noah's Ark in Illinois; and
The Potter's League in Rhode Island, to name a few.

The rescues listed above are the ones we deal with most often but others have helped us. We are constantly adding to our list of partner rescues.

PWW depends on donations and volunteers to make this happen. Our local volunteers step up to the plate and meet at the shelter and wash, walk, set up, crates, go to the airport to help get these animals out.

The other group are the individuals who pick up at the destination airport, Through last minute travelers, airline flight cancellations, delays, mistakes, late arrivals, very very late arrivals, customs, wind, snow, rain these individuals are always there.

Our Pets With Wings program is funded strictly by donations. The public has always stepped up to the plate to donate. We are now met with a crisis. There are travelers, rescues but not enough funds to sponsor the animals. The cost of transports is anywhere between $125 and $325 per animal depending on the size of the animal and whether it is under the seat or under the plane. That price includes health cert and rabies if required. In addition, commercial airline restrictions:weight, breed, weather and space make it nearly impossible to send our larger pets stateside.

Thank you for your continued support.

We have been very fortunate to be able to partner with Love for Love City Foundation and with their assistance we have been able to fly several hundred dogs to our partner rescues. However, while Kenny Chesney has been generous in sponsoring the flights and partner rescues have donated crates, Pets with Wings still needs to pay for the health certificates, any vaccines and any ground transportation to our partner rescues. So, we are still looking for donations so we can continue our efforts. There is always more pups and kittens that need to get stateside. Any amount of donation is appreciated.

Hi PWW community we have been doing so many smaller flights so the money is going faster than we can arrange flights and ground transport, but we are moving pets. So please continue to support our efforts. While we have not raised the entire goal of $30,000 we have used the money raised to transport pets stateside and reunited owners with pets that were left behind. Please continue to support our efforts.

As you all know, the Virgin Islands were hit by two major Hurricanes Irma and Maria. Just after Irma devastated St. Thomas but before Maria, we were able to coordinate an evacuation that allowed us to transport the Humane Society of St. Thomas dogs and cats to Island Dog Rescue in Virginia. The evacuation was not without a significant cost and debt which will take years to pay back. So we continue to ask for assistance to help repay that debt and to continue to raise money for another evacuation because despite transporting a significant number of pets, the shelter is again full. No amount is too small. Everything is appreciated. Please share.

The weather has gotten too hot to be able to send pets on commercial flights. This is our only option left to get much needs homeless pets to stateside rescue. Every pet that gets transported is another pet that isn't homeless. Any contribution is appreciated. Every little bit helps and all goes towards the transportation of pets. We are a volunteer based organization so all funds donated go towards the charter flight.

Thanks for all you & your staff do to get these animals to the states for a second chance. I know a lot of love, sweat, tears & lack of sleep go into these operations just from being there to volunteer. PWW is truly a wonderful program and I will continue to give even after I move back to the states.
