Peter Marks’ Spinal Injury Recovery Fund

It is with a sad heart and extreme sorrow that I have to reach out to one and all friends, family, colleagues and coworkers to report that my brother, Peter Marks, slipped and fell on the afternoon of June 1st in Jacksonville FL. Peter was transferred to the ER at University of Florida hospital. There it was determined that he had suffered a serious Spinal Cord injury which left him unable to move his arms or legs. The problem stems from stenosis of the three vertebrae in his neck. His neck has been stabilized with plates and two rods at the C3, C4, and C5 levels. The neurosurgeon who performed the surgery to stabilize Peter, indicated that he may not be able to walk again. Peter is currently in ICU Trauma recovering from the surgery. He is breathing with the aid of a ventilator and be there for at least another 14 days depending upon his progress. When he is released from ICU, he will undergo lengthy and difficult rehabilitation. The goal is for him to attain as much independence as possible, in order to enjoy life fully.

This is a big ask, perhaps even a miracle. We would like to ask you to keep Peter in your thoughts and prayers!

The Marks family here and around the planet, are devastated. We are almost in denial of what can happen in an instant to one of our loved ones. The impact upon family and friends is immense and we are rallying around and figuring out everything that will need to be done to give the Peter the best chance for recovery, and hopefully a better quality of life than he has now. All this comes at an incredible cost, not only financially but emotionally, to all who know and love my brother Peter. Going forward we have no idea what the extent of the financial burden will be to our family.
