On July 17, 2018 at 11:25pm, Peter Louis Budnick, loving husband and father, passed away at the age of 47.

Pete was born to Joan & Harry Budnick,  August 13, 1970 in Blackstone, Massachusetts.  He was the youngest of four children. He shared a special bond with his sister, who was 9 at the time.

Pete spent some time in Florida before moving to Colorado in his twenties.  He attended the University of Colorado in Denver and graduated with two bachelor degrees in Chemistry and Psychology.

He worked for Sandoz Pharmaceutical as a Pharmaceutical Chemist for 10 years.  During his time in Colorado, he met his future wife Kristine. He won her over with his quick wit and the rest was history!  They were married in 2006 and moved west to Minden, Nevada with their two children to be closer to family.

Pete took a job at the Starbucks Roasting Plant in Minden, Nevada where he worked up until the time he got sick.  He was well liked and had some great friends there. The company has been incredibly supportive during this very difficult time.  In addition to Starbucks, he and his business partner Dave opened Capital Vapor in Minden, and eventually the  ownership went to Pete and his wife.

Pete was an avid motorcycle rider. He had a passion for old vehicles which he collected and was restoring. He believed in encouraging the younger generation to go to school and advance with opportunities, even paying for some college courses for his employees.  He was proud of his accomplishments and most proud of his beautiful family. He was known for his quick off the wall wit, his infectious smile, and his kind and compassionate spirit. He will be greatly missed and always remembered by those he touched!

On March 13, 2017, their world was turned upside down when Pete was diagnosed with leiomyosarcoma, a very rare form of cancer.  For 16 months he fought and endured several surgeries and dozens of chemo and radiation treatments. He never once lost his sense of humor or sarcasm.

Pete passed peacefully at home in the loving arms of his wife and sister. The days leading up to his death were spent with so many family & friends. We want to thank his sister Linda and her husband, Don, for the unwavering love and support over the course of his illness and the days, hours and minutes leading up to his death.

Loved ones that cleared the path for Peter were his father, Harry Budnick, grandparents, Louis and Catherine Budnick, Jerome and Veronica Coyne, and cousin, Rachel Schwartz.

Loved ones that will miss Pete until they meet again are his wife, Kristine, his daughter, Hunter and son, Danny, his mother Joan, sister Linda and husband Don, brothers, Michael and wife Paula, Gregory and wife Liz, In-Laws, Dan & Becky Hunter.  In addition, he is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Pete loved spending time in the mountains with his wife, children & family.  A couple of his favorite places were at their property in Southern Colorado and in the Sierra Nevada.  Pete’s wish was to have his ashes scattered in the mountains close to their home in Minden, Nevada.

There will be private services.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you make donations to Hunter & Danny Budnick for their education.
