Passed away suddenly at his home in Burlington on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at the age of 58. Beloved husband of Ann for 23 years. Cherished father of Jane, Jordan and Jack. Dear brother of Jon, Joe and Mike (Mary Jo).
Pete was a dedicated and kind teacher who served at Aldershot School in Burlington since 2001. He taught Physics, Math and senior Science and coached baseball and hockey. For several years, Pete organized the graduation ceremony.
Please support us as we organize a scholarship to be awarded to a deserving graduating student. This will be distributed at Aldershot's June graduation, in just a few short weeks. We are aiming to give the student a one-time scholarship of $1000.00. Any residual funding will support another student, of the same (or lesser) amount, in the following year(s).
Note: We have just posted an update. At the request of the family and due to the generous outpouring of support, we are now aiming to reach $10,000.00 in order to support a graduate for 10 years.
We are working with the school staff and family to coordinate details of the scholarship according to their wishes.
Please help us extend to his tremendous legacy by supporting a student's budding future.

PS. Hello again everyone. Gofundme has asked us to provide some more details about our story. This must be a security/accountability/credibility strategy that Ray and I completely support. So, we want to provide you with more information about us in order to ensure that you and gofundme understand specifically the intentions of the money raised and how it will be transferred.
Important Note: the actual amount that will go to Aldershot school is $5317.29 (the rest goes toward gofundme fees). We said that the campaign would end on July 1st; we would like to close down the page and transfer the funds to Aldershot School as soon as possible...especially before school office staff go off for their summer vacations.
So, let's begin to answer the questions:
1) Who are we? My husband Ray Micheli is a teacher at Aldershot and worked with Pete for 17 years. Ann, Pete's wife, is an old childhood friend of Mag's.
2) Where are you from? Mag grew up in Burlington. Ray grew up in Oshawa and now works in Burlington at Aldershot.
3) Relationship to Peter? He was a colleague and friend.
4) How will the funds be used? Hoping this has been answered above. However, to be totally clear, let's go through it again. A scholarship of $1000.00 will be given each year to a deserving graduate who excels in the Math/Science area. Wonderfully, as a result of this collective effort, there will be at least 5 graduates that will benefit from this campaign. The residual $317.29 will go to a 6th graduate. Ann presented the award on June 28 to Ben and it will really support him as he goes to McMaster University this fall. Once all the money is transferred to the school, the annual donation will be coordinated by Aldershot School, as it does for all graduation awards. The family is aware of this and is supportive.
5) How will the money be transferred? Well, we have never done a gofundme before and so we were going to have the full amount transferred to our account and we have written a cheque to Aldershot school. The operations manager at the school Mrs M Morrison has asked us to do it this way as it is the simplest. We had planned on getting this accomplished this week. As well, we have forwarded Aldershot and Ann Heeney all the records (of all the donors) so there is full transparency.
