Perth Community Farm

This project has exploded since March 2018 into a hive of activity from the City of Perth's Community in such a short time that funding has now become priority to make sure the Farm happens.

My name is Craig and I am the Director of Perth Community Farm where I have been extremely lucky to be offered a THIRD of an acre of land from the Perth & Kinross Council to start up this project but I desperately need some funding now so we don't lose the momentum that has been created over such a short period of time.

The legal side of setting up the social enterprise can take up to three months then there's another three months to chase funding so as you can imagine Christmas will be upon us before we can get any real impact on the ground and we really need everything set up this year ready to go into 2019 actually farming the land.

I posted up on Facebook the information below to let the public know what my long term goals are for the Community Farm and within the space of a month I've gone from 300 LIKES to well over 1,000.

SO WHY SHOULD YOU BE EXCITED ABOUT PERTH COMMUNITY FARM? Well if I can detail what the long term plan is below I think you'll find that it has a great deal of potential.

- It is to be run by my Family and I as a social enterprise which means not for profit, any profit made goes straight back into the community.
- It's located right in the heart of the City that you would drive right past it without even knowing it was there.
- It's a community HUB and the public ( that's you guys ) can join to become members to work the land as a hobby or for social gain or for payment in return for fruit and vegetables to the max value of 4 hours work x the minimum wage a week. Currently at £7.80 this would equate to £31.20 of produce for helping work the land.
- It's to be used as a social gathering for Mum's and Dad's that are looking after their toddlers and would like the children outside in the fresh air rather than stuck inside.
- It will be a learning platform for children from all schools to visit to see how fruit and vegetables are produced from seed to germination to the best part tasting.
- It will be accessible for wheelchair members with raised beds and a specifically built raised bed that will have an average height that the front of a wheelchair can access under the raised bed so that a child or adult can touch the soil and the vegetables growing.
- We'd like to have quiet days for children with sensory issues, Autism or just a more relaxed environment for people that find socialising within the general public difficult.
- There's been discussions about cooking workshops for families and general public to learn how to cook good healthy quality meals such as Lentil soup, Stews, Stovies, Vegan meals and vegetarian meals so we all learn something different and walk away with a recipe and bag with the produce.

As you can see the possibilities are endless but we need your support to gain FUNDING from certain organisations so please LIKE, SHARE & COMMENT to make sure as many people can see this post and I'll keep you up to date as things start to progress, many thanks and Happy times for urban farming.

So as you can see the Community Farm has so much potential but as usual funding always comes into play so please consider donating to help really kick this project off on a really positive path.

From myself and the people of Perth Thank You.

Kind regards
