People Helping Paradise

The Camp Fire in Butte County has devastated the lives of many. The Camp Fire started on November 8, 2018 at 6:33 am in the small community of Pulga, CA. It spread quickly and destroyed the towns of Paradise, Magalia, Concow, and many other small communities. The Camp Fire was finally at 100% containment on November 25, 2018. It burned over 153,000 acres. It displaced 52,000 people. It destroyed over 19,000 buildings - homes, commercial buildings, etc. There have been 85 fatalities. This has become the most deadly and destructive fire in California History.

We, Heather, Eileen, and Kara, are from Paradise, but have relocated to Novato, Chicago, and Chico since high school. Paradise was filled with our family and close friends. Our hearts ache to see our hometown in ruins, to see those that we love and care for left without homes, to see people struggling. It's been hard not being able to be there in person to help and we want to make an impact to help those in need.

We are collecting gift cards for the victims. We are looking for gift cards in $25 increments. They can be to anywhere from Target to Walmart to gas stations to any place that fire victims can buy food/clothes/supplies. We want to help those affected feel empowered and regain control of their lives. We will make sure they get to families in need by donating them to Salvation Army in Chico, CA and the Chico Posse Foundation. Salvation Army is in it for the long haul and will distribute the gift cards to families in need during long-term recovery. The Chico Posse Foundation is currently distributing gift cards to families affected by the Camp Fire helping with immediate needs by giving them a hand up.
You can send gift cards electronically to [email redacted]  or if you're more comfortable donating money through our Go Fund Me, we will purchase and distribute the gift cards with those funds. As the funds are deposited into our account, we will buy gift cards in $25 increments to places like Target, FoodMaxx, Winco, Walmart, Rite Aid, etc. As we purchase the gift cards and deliver the gift cards, we will let you know exactly what we are doing with your generous donations each step of the way.
