Penguin Rehabilitation Project

Penguin Rehab and Release is looking for donations to purchase equipment for a new rehabilitation facility for Little Penguins that come into care due to sickness, injury or misadventure, and prepare them for successful release back into the wild. Based in Burnie this will be the first such facility in north- west Tasmania equipped for mid to long-term care. It will be available to all penguins (and other seabirds) throughout the region that require intensive swimming therapy prior to release. All penguins come into care under permits by Wildlife Management Branch, DPIPWE, and are cared for by trained and registered seabird carers.
