Peanutland Cat Shelter
On March 1st of this past year 2018 my stray cat I adopted named Katy had a litter of 6 kittens. I decided to keep them all as I had a hard time finding what I'd say is a suitable home for them. They are my family and I love them very much. Tragically on Sept. 12 2018 my sweet cat Peanut (pictured) was hit by a car and killed in my hometown which is in a village where people should be driving slower but do not.
I would like to establish a safe haven for cats near where I live in the Fingerlakes region of Upstate ny in her honor called Peanutland. I would like to get enough land to operate the shelter while also operating an evergreen tree business as a way to make alternative funding to keep the shelter open in the event that on-going donations can not maintain it. the reason for growing pines and evergreens is to also allow me to process pine pellets for cat litter, which is biodegradable and more environmentally friendly than clay which accumulates moisture an is fairly non-biodegradable.
All operations of the shelter are for non-profit purposes. A place where cats can have a forever home if for some reason they can't have any place else to stay.
I've found a lot of land nearby me for around $250,000. I estimate that at least $300,000 gets the place established. I am looking towards donating $20 a month of my own money which is the approximate cost for me to feed one cat per month.
