Portland Insectarium Fundraiser
Donation protected
The Portland Insectarium started as an idea to renovate an old RV into a mobile bug zoo and museum. After spending too much money on it already, we were told the RV was not worth remodeling.
Since then, we became a pop-up, rather than a mobile, insectarium. We hosted our first public event in Jan 2018 and have been steadily growing since then with several news articles and tv segments!
Portland Tribune
Willamette Week
KATU Curious Gallery
On the Go with Joe
KGW OMSI After Dark
We host a monthly Drink & Draw at Nucleus gallery , free events at the Multnomah County Library and Paxton Gate , and we are often at OMSI .
That being said, we are a very small team of people. We have day jobs and hobbies and the insectarium doesn't make enough money for us to quit our other avenues of income.
Currently, all income from the insectarium goes to:
• producing merchandise (stickers, t-shirts, coloring books)
• printing of educational materials
• terrariums for live bugs
• venue rental for some events
• storage unit rent
• gas money
• other things to grow the business.
However, we have not been able to afford an accountant. This is a major roadblock for us as we have not been able to do our taxes or write off any expenses.
This money you pledge will not only help us to get an accountant, but also allow me, the owner, to take some business classes at the community college to learn how to better run this business and serve the community where we live.
We also have plans for educational videos, more items in our shop, and a variety of different kinds of events and this will help fund those projects, as well.
Anything amount you can give is greatly appreciated!
Thank you,
