Please help my sister!!
Melanie is a smart, fun, beautiful, compassionate, generous person, who lights up a room when she enters. She is an artist, she loves people and gives a lot of her time to help and support others. Sadly, Melanie suffers from severe Crohn’s disease with several Perianal Fistula tracks accompanied by Chronic Internal Abscesses. She has spent almost three decades living with Crohn’s Disease and its escalating and very painful complications. Her medical treatments are very expensive and they are mentally, physically and financially exhausting her. I am praying that with your help we will raise the money needed for her to continue the treatments that are currently helping her, and send her to another country for medical treatments that are not available in Canada.
In order to explain why your help is so important, let me first tell you what a fistula is. In her case, it is a hole in the colon; that goes from the inside to the outside of the body (which was created by an internal abscess). The body is smart, it created a fistula tract to get the Infection out. However, this is very painful and dangerous for a multitude of reasons. Having fistula tracks puts you at high risk for sepsis (blood poisoning), organ failure and dangerously low blood pressure. They also have the potential to create passageways inside the body to the organs or anywhere else, which can create all sorts of issues in the body. Melanie currently has three holes in her colon, with very complex fistula tracks that have branched out several times. She now has nine external holes (tracks that lead to the outside of her body). She has four Seton drains installed to ensure that the toxins have a way out.
Melanie has had seven surgeries in the last year. All related to her Crohn’s disease, fistulas and their many complications. Western medicine does not have a cure, all they can do is try to minimize the damage being done to her body. She deals with severe chronic abdominal pain and cramping. This illness causes her to have bowel movements up to 15 times a day. She looses a tremendous amount of blood, and is intermittently anaemic as a result (requiring iron infusions at the hospital). This illness is also affecting other parts of her body. She has issues with her vision (inflammation in her eyes/requiring surgery) as well as arthritis, and a painful skin condition that flares up with her Crohn's.
Melanie is determined to heal all of this. She has found many complimentary treatments and therapies that she is using in conjunction with western medicine. These treatments are helping her tremendously!! We have seen so much improvement doing them all together that it fills us with hope! With much research Melanie has found a doctor in India that offers a specialized fistula treatment. 3. Acupuncture; $110 per visit, plus herbs. She requires this once weekly. It helps to support her organ health and a multitude of other things, including pain management.
4. Naturopathic Doctor visits, supplements and treatments. One visit is typically $100.00, plus recommendations made by the doctor. Supplemental support for her micro-biome, digestion and healing. This one is only required once monthly.
5. Massage therapy; $85.00 per visit. She requires Therapeutic massage weekly, to assist her in managing chronic pain and headaches.
6. Chiropractic treatment; $85.00 per month
