A Friend Needs Help

Donation protected
This is Alan's story from his July 26th Facebook feed  - I did some editing.   I was compelled to start a Go Fund Me fundraiser on his behalf.

To my close friends and family, bad tidings have befallen me once more.

Some of you are aware but many others do not know my situation. I apologize for not saying anything sooner. I have been surviving in an adult foster care home in Oxford, MI. known as Deerwood Manor. On July 1st I was informed  that the place was sold.  I was given 30 days to find a new place.  Out of the ten remaining occupants, seven have found new home. So far my efforts and calling has wound up feeding the residents here and getting several of them places to stay.

I still have not found a new place to live.

The events to date:
• The soon-to-be owner(s), stopped paying for a garbage dumpster several months ago. The garage is now filled with so many garbage bags it has become hazardous to health.
• Several weeks ago, the soon-to-be owner(s), stopped paying for the cable, phone and wi/fi services. As a result, the caretakers are unable to place outbound calls in the event of an emergency. One of the residents did have to go to the emergency room.
• Food supplies have diminished greatly. After I explained what had happened to a wonderful friend, they brought over several boxes of groceries to feed the ten of us that remained. I told the site manager about a nearby food bank to get food for the remaining residents and she did nothing! I made several calls to another food bank on behalf of this place.
• The same person that brought us groceries, contacted and discovered 4-5 potential places for the remaining residents to move to. I could not go to any of those places due to their geographical locations.

I did find one place, it's nice enough, but cost prohibitive until approvals for Section Eight Housing and the Medicaid Waiver Program are confirmed.

I tried to get a bank loan and they declined me. The Community Housing Network says I qualify for subsidies due to suffering from several medical disabilities and low income status. I have contacted many state agencies seeking assistance.

Oxford, the gravel capital of Michigan, has been far too rural for me. I need to find a place South of here - preferably near Northville and Novi,  I'd like to be closer to my good friends because they can help me if a situation like this ever arises again.

Moving from Oxford to any place in the vicinity of where I would like to will be expensive.

My health hasn't been spectacular lately either. I lost a tooth last night and haven't really slept in the last two days either. Coupled with some ongoing gastrointestinal discomfort and I am just peachy! On top of all this my focus isn't great!

Folks please pray for me and think kind, positive thoughts.  If you happen to know of any decent places, please let me know.

Thanks folks!
