TO THE SUMMIT OF HER PERSONAL EVEREST
Biographical Novel

During the "Canadian National Dancesport Championship", a Ballroom and Latina dance competition, Isabelle and Jack get to know each other...

- "I am climbing the seven highest summits in the world, one per continent, in less than two years. I've done the first four, including Kilimandjaro, and I'll finish with Everest in a few months, "Jack said proudly.

The evening ends, Isabelle goes to bed with many thoughts going through her mind. Around 4 am, she wakes up thinking of what Jack told her about Everest and the highest mountains in the world. Upon reflecting about it, she concludes that she also climbed the seven highest peaks, but differently...

The next day, Isabelle confided in Jack.

- "I chose to go back to school at 25. I first had to finish Grade 12 at a school for adults. At 27, when I had just finished Cegep and was preparing for university, I was confined to a hospital bed for 6 months because of a stroke. Despite the paralysis and blindness, I was determined to continue my academic journey and so returned to school on the 7th month after the incident. Even as a student with disabilities, I was able to realize my educational dream by successfully completing my Master of Business Administration (MBA). I believe everyone has to climb their own personal summits and each must climb his/her own personal Everest. For me, who according to the doctors, should never have been able to walk or see, these three days of competitive dance means reaching the summit of my personal Everest."

The path to healing had been painful and difficult, however Isabelle had used the tools she had learned and used all her life to heal herself and had succeeded, despite the overwhelming odds.

Jack agreed with her: everyone has, at different levels and intensities, his/her own challenges to overcome, his/her own mountains to climb ... to the summit of his/her personal Everest...
