Mom was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer last week, and is leaving the comforts of home on Wednesday, November 30 for four to five weeks of intense treatment at Rubio Cancer Center in Mexico. The cost for treatment is $1,000 per day, and not covered by insurance. We humbly ask that you prayerfully consider making a donation to help offset this cost. Her story:
In October of 2010, Mom was diagnosed with Stage 3 breast cancer, and had a double mastectomy the following month. In January of 2011, she went through radiation treatment for five weeks followed by four reconstruction surgeries over the following two years. Cancer markers stayed in the low 20s which is the normal range.
Mom went in for a six year check up on November 2 of this year, and her bloodwork showed her cancer markers jumped up to 79.5. This was devastating news and completely unexpected. The bloodwork results led to a breast MRI, ultra sound and biopsy which showed positive results for the same cancer as in 2010. A bone scan, brain, and body CT scan followed which showed that the cancer moved to her spine, and is now considered stage 4.
After a week of prayer and research, God placed several people in their lives which led them to the Rubio Cancer Center in Mexico. We are hopeful and optimistic that this is the right choice for treatment at this time. As stated above, they will be in Mexico for four to five weeks for treatment, and hope to return home around the first of the year.
