Who is Pastor Marcos Gonzalez?
Marco Gonzalez Ledesma, a loving husband and father of three, chemical engineer by profession, and an Evangelical Pastor by calling.  He is the Director of Evangelism and Mission of the Ecuadorian Baptist Convention, and he and his wife, Ester Soriano, are youth counselors to the Guayas Baptist Association.
He is the founder and Pastor of Iglesia Evangelica Bautista Guayacanes, located in Guayaquil, Ecuador. Since his youth his passion has been to serve God.  He is passionate about missions and avidly supports the expansion of missions in Ecuador.  Pastor Marcos is unstoppable and relentless in his passion to serve God and continue God's mission always and in every situation.
What Happened!
On Thursday January 19, 2018, he travelled to Lima, Peru from Guayaquil, Ecuador to participate as a guest speaker in a Church Youth Conference.  He arrived with cold-like symptoms, that quickly evolved into respiratory failure aggravated by a severe pneumonia.  On January 22, 2018, his condition worsened requiring hospitalization in the Intensive Care Unit.  He remains in critical condition and the daily out of pocket costs range between $3000 to $5000 depending on the tests and care required.  Currently he is an induced coma, on a ventilator, and cannot be taken to Ecuador, his country of origin, due to his critical state because his life depends on a ventilator to breathe.  Doctors estimate that his treatment in the Intensive Care Unit will last about 30 days.  After the ventilator is removed and he is able to breathe on his own, Pastor Marco will have to undergo therapy.
Please HELP!
Pastor Gonzalez's family spent their savings on his medical crisis and cannot afford the extensive and expensive treatment.  Please Help Pastor Marcos Gonzalez Ledezma overcome this health crisis.  Any and all help is appreciated.  We are praying for and believing in a speedy recovery.

His often repeated phrase "Whoever invites pays" alludes to his dependency on God, primarily refering to those who have been called to serve in ministry, since his trust is placed in God who is eternal, faithful, firm, and inspiring.

Friends and Family,
Pastor Marco González's recovery has been a success despite the seriousness of his condition and the high mortality rate associated with his condition.
On February 8, Pastor Marco was discharged from the hospital although he continues to take antibiotics to fully recovery. He is still very weak due to the fact that he was immobilized during the entire period that he was hospitalized, which was over two weeks.
We have now entered the rehabilitation stage. He left the hospital unable to walk, perform daily activities, or make any physical effort.
He is putting a lot of effort into his recovery and therapy and we are seeing great results. He is currently performing motor and respiratory therapy 2 to 3 hours a day.
We are still in Peru and will remain here until the treating doctor authorizes him to leave the country.
We thank God and our brothers and sisters in Christ who joined this campaign to treat Pastor Marco and to help him through this recovery. We are hoping for an early return to our home country.
May God bless you greatly,
The González Soriano Family.

Amigos,

Hi my name is Gloria Paredes, and I am a long time friend of the Gonzalez Soriano family. Ester Soriano asked me to start this campaign in order to help them get through Pastor Marco's health crisis.
I will be withdrawing the funds raised through this campaign and depositing them into Pastor Marco and his wife's bank account. As funds continue to come in I will continue to deposit the funds into their account. Below is a message from the family:
God gave us the Miracle we have been waiting for. We saw Marco wake up completely and reach out to us from afar. Gaining consciousness has been a process that took two days, but he finally recognizes us.
The mechanical ventilator tube was removed and replaced by a non-invasive oxygen mask. We are confident that he will soon stop depending on oxygen machines. With a weak voice and a feeding tube, he asked us to take him out of the hospital. He understands where he is at and his condition. It is an uncomfortable, but necessary process for his recovery. We told him that he has to be patient, obey the doctors, and that his doctors were there to make sure he complies. We read Psalm 118, Romans 8 and repeated or tried to repeat the verses, we sang his favorite hymn How Great God Is, confirming that he recovered his level of consciousness.
We are waiting for a complete recovery, removal of the feeding by tube, and for Marco to return to normal breathing which will decrease the risk of infection and reduce the possibility of having to put him back on the ventilator. Thank God for giving me back my husband, dad, friend, spiritual guide. God Bless you all and Thank You.
Thank You! Familia Gonzalez Soriano

Pastor Marco González Ledesma remains hospitalized in the intensive care unit of the Japanese Centennial Clinic for acute respiratory failure. Pastor Marcos was sedated and on a respiratory ventilator. After a week, we observed discreet but important advances in his recovery although he remains in critical condition. The medical team has observed a satisfactory response to the treatments used, the advances are slow but we trust in God that he has control of the situation.

At this moment we face some challenges:

-First, is his dependence on mechanical ventilation that will gradually be removed and he will need to start breathing on his own.
- Second, is sedation which will also be gradually withdrawn as he regains consciousness. We need his level of consciousness to be adequate for him to be able to breathe and communicate with those around him.
- Another challenge is the complications that patients in intensive care units face, such as hospital infections, skin problems, motor problems, among others.

Since this GoFundMe account was created to cover Pastor Marcos' medical needs, we will be withdrawing the money collected thus far to send it to Peru to help pay the growing medical bills. Thank you for your prayers and your continued support. The pastor will remain hospitalized until he regains consciousness and recovers. That being said we will continue to collect funds for Pastor Marcos, so all contributions are appreciated.
