Painting the Camino de Santiago

I would like to share my experience as I walk across this Spanish Camino through artwork that I will paint along 'The Way.'
Walking the Camino de Santiago de Compostela, Spain has been documented by travelers for centuries. Known in English as the Way of Saint James. This miraculous walk, a 500 mile foot journey is so popular, it has become known as a rite of passage in Europe, not only for young people but for anyone with a longing for direction, renewal and challenge, a longing for pilgrimage. As for the thouands of people who walk, who's journey has a personal challenge, finding a connection with others walking from all corners of the world discovering similarities and differences, makes this a common thread, a story, living history and making it your own.
Movies are the inspiration for this pilgrimage, books written of epic journeys and letters about the Camino continue to be printed.
I have always traveled with sketch materials in tow and gifted my art as a token to new friendships.
This time, my hand painted water colors will also be my way of funding this experience. The unique artwork is meant to capture landscape or an especially breathtaking moment along this French route.
If you’ve made the trek yourself, perhaps my art will rekindle the memories of special moments in this adventure of a lifetime.
My education in graphic arts has given me the gift of sharing creatively with others and spawned a business that has helped support my family.
The art of baking and decorating all occasion cakes has been my work, love and passion. Having chosen the kitchen as my workplace, I have painted in sugar as a profession for over 2 decades.
Giving my children the reigns to discover and venture through travel, I am taking my turn to explore.
Committing to this pilgrimage, means physically, emotionally and spiritually preparing for this 500 mile walking trek from St Jean Pied de Port, France
to Santiago, Spain.
To help fund this adventure, I am selling my watercolor paintings.
Painted on quality archival, acid free paper, this collection will be created throughout the Camino.
My estimated 45 days of travel, airfare, proper backpacking equipment and art supplies will cost $4,000.00

$ 20. POSTCARD – Hand painted, signed rendering, mailed to you in a protective envelope from a post office along the trail. Post included.
$45. PAINTED RENDERING 4 x 6 hand painted piece, signed. Suitable for framing or passing along as a gift. Mailed upon my return to the US.
$ 75. 5 x 7 hand painted original watercolor on archival paper, acid-free mat and backing. Mailed to you upon my return to the US.
$ 125. 8 x 10 hand painted original watercolor on archival paper with an acid-free mat and backing. Mailed to you upon my return to the US.
$ 250. Assortment package of 3 signed originals, 4 x 6 with descriptions of each image plus a token souvenir from the city to which it was painted. These will be mailed upon my return to the US.
$ 500. Assorted works of original art painted from the Camino. Signed, matted and framed under glass. Select 2 works of your choice.
