We have exciting news! An anonymous donor has agreed to match ALL DONATIONS made to PageSlayers for the 2018 summer camp sessions!! The only catch? They'll only match until April 13. That means we have just 12 days to do this.
If you’ve been meaning to donate, or if you'd like to donate again, or if you know someone who knows someone, please help us spread the word and meet our match. We’ve set the goal at $5,000, which would cover ALL of our remaining summer 2018 costs.
Can we do $5,000 in 12 days? With your help, we sure hope so!
Where will your donation go?
Great question! All funds collected through this campaign will support PageSlayers' (a 2016 Knight Arts Challenge Winner) second year of programming, which includes three, two-week creative writing summer camp sessions for 4th and 5th graders in Opa-Locka, FL. Students will study the art of poetry, fiction, creative nonfiction, graphic novels, spoken word, zine-making, and more.
***Your donation, no matter the amount, allows us to provide all camp sessions, materials, breakfast and lunch to campers for FREE.***
With your donation, PageSlayers will also be able to hire professional, published writers-of-color to teach our young campers in Opa-Locka. Additionally, we'll be able to procure materials for collaborative zines, and hold a free end-of-summer showcase in collaboration with our partners at the Opa-Locka Community Development Corporation .
