Beyond The Disco - an inclusive theatre project

Do you want to join me in making a difference? I'm raising money for EASTBOURNE AND DISTRICT MENCAP LIMITED.
We are creating a truly original inclusive theatre production Beyond The Disco, telling the story of Jenny & Ben who meet at a disco. It is love at first sight, but the quest for love does not run smoothly as they fight for independence. Will love conquer all Beyond The Disco ?
The show will be devised, produced and performed by Eastbourne Mencap's drama group Showbox at The Royal Hippodrome in collaboration with Trapdoor Theatre School, October 2019.
The show will deal with everyday issues of independence, visibility and inclusion, and be devised by the members of Eastbourne Mencap drama group. To achieve our goal we will be running a variety of workshops including;
Page To Stage - Script writing workshop. To promote the growth of skill sets, including communication / active listening / memory and self-belief in adults with Learning Disabilities.
Costume / Set Design - To incorporate choices around colour, design, enhancing self confidence and skills relating to texture and material. Improving hand eye co-ordination.
Weekly Showbox Drama Workshops -increased confidence and self-belief through genuine activity participation. Overall improvement in physical and emotional well-being. Regular rehearsals to take place in the community at the Royal Hippodrome.
