PACOIMA SINGERS VANCOUVER TRIP 2017

Donation protected
For twenty- four years, the Pacoima Singers have been an award-winning, multi-ethnic performing arts group at the Pacoima Middle School Film, Video & Performing Arts Magnet in the San Fernando Valley, Los Angeles. This singing and dancing group of thirty-four 12, 13 & 14 year olds come from all over L.A.

We are looking to you for assistance in giving these middle school performing arts students a truly remarkable, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The Pacoima Singers are planning a performing trip to Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, in the spring to participate at the 2017 Heritage International Music Festival. We will be representing Southern California, as we will have the opportunity to compete against with students from all over the western United States and Canada.

We are desperately seeking assistance with this exciting trip. Unfortunately, due to increased airline and hotel prices, the trip costs significantly more than in the past. We now must raise approximately $50,000 for the entire group to participate—and our rule is, everyone goes, or no one goes. The parents and students are raising about half of that amount --we are turning to personal and corporate sponsors for the balance.  We do not receive ANY money from the district or school.

Besides performing, community service is very important to these students. For example, the Pacoima Singers held a musical tribute and appeal for the victims of Hurricane Sandy. The students decided to perform Bridge Over Troubled Waters for the student body in an impromptu outdoor concert, where they appealed for donations. In a two-day period, they raised over $750 for the Red Cross. They have recorded three CD’s for charitable causes. And as one of their most special opportunities, they were one of five choirs chosen world-wide to record an international Internet song to raise thousands of dollars for the victims of the devastating Haiti earthquake.

You can view performance videos, read a Sunday front page Daily News story and see a KNBC-TV4 feature of this amazing group of young people on our web site at www.pacoimasingers.com.

With your help, we can send these talented, wonderful young people to a dream trip, a once-in-a-lifetime experience, competing in Canada.
