MISSION: This mission is an intensive, 10-week course aimed at equipping imprisoned fathers with college-level, gospel-centered teaching, so that they will return to their families as men of conviction and bring healing and restoration.
Millions of children in America grow up without fathers; a major cause of this is imprisonment. Unfortunately, that fatherless experience often continues even after an inmate dad is released. The effect on these kids is immeasurable and in an effort to bring healing, a select group of inmates have already responded with a great desire for this teaching on parenting and are eager to learn.
For 10 weeks at Pitchess Detention Center in Los Angeles County, California, Jay Wegter plans to equip a select group of inmate dads with a Bible college-level course experience, through lectures, assignments, and exams. The men will be under the guidance of Jay Wegter and his book, A Man and His Convictions. Jay’s book powerfully expresses the steps men need to take in order to embrace God’s vision for marriage and family. By daily dependence upon Christ, these men will find the strength to step into their role as dads so that their children will come to know the parental figure they have longed for.
Please support Jay’s 10 week mission, his goal is $2,500 USD which will cover Jay’s expenses and teaching materials. His 10 week mission of instruction at the prison will be conducted under the umbrella of Awana Lifeline. There are no words to express my gratitude.
