Running Gear for Rhodes Hall High

Donation protected
When I traveled to Jamaica to cover the Reggae Marathon for Women's Running magazine, I had no idea that I would meet the wonderful student athletes at Rhodes Hall High School in Hanover, Jamaica. The kids blew me away with their talent, kindness, and humility, and as I spoke to their coach, I learned that they face tough obstacles.

Many of the kids live in poverty and cannot afford running shoes or gear. Their coach purchases shoes and uniforms for as many students as he can out of his own paycheck, but many students do not have the opportunity to compete or reach their full potential as athletes.

Running has given so much to me and made me believe I can achieve more than I ever thought possible. The students at Rhodes Hall High (7th-12th grade) come from tough circumstances, but that's all the more reason why running is so important to them.

Any donations here will go directly to the team and Coach Parchment for the purchase of track and field uniforms, shoes, and equipment. We are aiming to raise the funds by February 15 in advance of the national championship meet in March!

The kids, Coach Parchment, and I cannot thank you enough!
